SUNDAY SUPPER SERIES: an edible & educational evening on the farm

 

Join Long Stone Farm for an educational and delicious evening on the farm! What better way to learn more about the food you eat than to come directly to the farm and see how it’s produced? We invite you to share a Sunday evening with us learning about our farm, listening to bluegrass, sipping on wine from Walsh Family Wine and enjoying Sunday supper prepared by Chef Justin Garrison of JustinThyme Culinary. 


Farm owners, Justin & Casey Wisch, will provide a 45 minute educational in-depth hay wagon tour of the farm. There will be conversation and demonstrations on soil health, rotational grazing, livestock handling, forage planting and grazing, multi-species grazing, local wildlife and more! The Wisch family will show you how beneficial livestock are to the environment and our ecosystems when properly managed. Enjoy the evening re-connecting with the land, observing surrounding nature and watching livestock graze under the open sky.


Appetizers and beverages will be served upon arrival. Music, dinner and merriment will follow the farm tour. Chef Justin Garrison will serve a multi-course dinner in our family’s historic barn. Justin and Casey share a love for quality food and fine wines - Virginia has the soil to offer both and we invite you to enjoy with us on our farm. The menu will be released closer to the event.


Reservations are required to hold your seat and plate for the evening. Tickets include farm tour, dinner and one glass of wine. A wine cash bar will be available during the evening. Group bookings are encouraged. We will arrange tables based on group reservations, which will be confirmed before the event.

Please understand our farm is a production farm and not an event venue. Please wear casual footwear.

Nose-to-tail butchery & cooking: maximizing your pork share

 We are excited to invite our share buyers to a private culinary tour of the pig from nose to tail at Catoctin Creek Distillery in Purcellville, VA. Please join us for an evening of unique bites, delicious beverages and a presentation of the pig by Chef Tim Rowley of Wine Kitchen (Leesburg). 


Chef Tim will provide an interactive breakdown of pork primals, demonstrate how primals are further broken down and discuss various cooking techniques while we walk through our cut sheet to provide our buyers with a special visual learning experience. We want to help you honor all parts of the pig in your own kitchen!


This event is less about butchery skills and more about understanding your pork share from a culinary perspective. Chef Tim will provide education about using all the parts of pig, including more specialty items like trotters, liver and jowl. 


We will take time to share information about the farm and some details about our pastured pork operation so you have a good understanding of where your food comes from, how it’s raised and what is unique about Long Stone Farm!


We invite you to sip and learn about local beverages produced in Loudoun County by Catoctin Creek Distillery, Walsh Family Wine, Notaviva Vineyard and Wheatland Brewing while sampling a variety of unique bites sourced from the nose to the tail! Recipe cards for select dishes will be available.


A ticket includes all food and drink at this event, as well as some take-home offerings. There are a few tickets available for individuals interested in our pork shares. We hope you can join us for this unique educational and delectable evening!

Loudoun County Spring Farm Tour

Join us for the annual spring farm tour put on by Loudoun County Economic Development. We offer a self-guided tour of farm where you can see our livestock and learn about our farming practices. We will will local produce for sale and our farm stand will be open as usual.
